St Mary's Catholic School Ōtorohanga

Our Mission Statement :

"To Grow in Grace and Knowledge in Christ Jesus"

We base our school values around this statement - to be always seeking excellence, doing our very best in all we do, through our thoughts, words and actions as Christ Jesus.

Vision

Quality learning in a caring family environment where everyone is respected and valued.

St Mary’s is an integrated Catholic Primary School Year 1 - 8. The original school (now Learning Adventures Childcare Centre) was founded in 1955 by the Sisters of St Joseph.

The present school was built in 1985 and named after our Parish and Church, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. In 1994 the school was renamed St Mary’s Catholic School.

Special Character

The Special Character of our school is central to all school activities. Staff and students reflect “Proud to be Catholic” through their actions, thoughts and words. Within our school community’s small and family nature, St Mary's students learn to respect each other as individuals and their environment, be responsible for their learning and of others, maintain a ‘can-do attitude and work together as a highly productive team. The poise, confidence and achievement of St Mary's students when they move onto secondary school and beyond is testimony to the ethics, skills and values they develop at St Mary's. We are very proud of what our school offers our students and community and strive to continue providing excellence in all areas.
